Bedroom Painting Services

Master Bedrooms

A master bedroom in a Cotswolds period property often has features that need individual attention. Georgian townhouses in Cirencester can have ceiling heights of 3 metres or more — more wall area and more cornicing to cut in precisely.

Original lime plaster needs a breathable primer before any finish coat. We assess each surface during the site visit and prepare accordingly.

Guest Rooms and Holiday Cottages

Guest bedrooms in Cotswolds holiday lets need to look good. Properties in Chipping Campden and Bourton-on-the-Water can charge £300 to £600 per night — a tired finish in a guest room affects reviews.

We work between seasons to repaint guest rooms on schedule. Remote owners brief us directly and we get on with the job without on-site supervision.

Children’s Rooms

Children’s rooms need a finish that’s easy to clean. We recommend satin or eggshell on walls where washability matters. Low-VOC paints are available across most major ranges.

Period features in children’s rooms get the same care as any other room. We work around furniture where the room can’t be fully cleared.

Alcoves, Built-ins, and Period Features

Bedroom alcoves either side of a chimney breast are common in Georgian townhouses in Cirencester and Tetbury. Painting alcoves in a contrasting colour adds depth to a room without a full feature wall.

Built-in wardrobes and original joinery are hand-painted. Wardrobe door panels in period properties often carry many coats of old paint — we sand back and repaint to restore the original profile.

Feature Walls

A single wall in a deeper colour can change the feel of a bedroom without repainting the whole room. We advise on placement, colour, and finish during the site visit.

For dedicated feature wall scope and pricing, see our feature wall painting page.

Here’s How It Works

1. Site Visit and Colour Consultation

We visit the bedroom and assess the surfaces. We note any lime plaster, cornicing, or period features that need individual preparation. Colour consultation is included.

2. Furniture Protection and Preparation

Larger pieces stay in the room, moved to the centre and covered with dust sheets. Breakables and personal items should be removed before we arrive. Floors are fully protected.

3. Surface Preparation

Cracks and gaps are filled. Lime plaster walls are primed with a lime-compatible breathable primer. Previous paint in poor condition is sanded back. Woodwork is prepared separately.

4. Paint Application

Ceiling first, then walls, then woodwork. This keeps drips off finished surfaces. Each coat gets full drying time before the next goes on.

5. Period Feature Care

Cornicing, ceiling roses, and original architraves are hand-cut with precision. Exposed timber beams are masked and painted around carefully.

Prices below are estimates only. Every property is different. Call 01285 708711 for a precise quote.

Standard Bedroom

A Victorian terrace or Stroud period semi, walls and ceiling: £350 to £550. A complete single-room repaint — walls, ceiling, and woodwork — typically costs £350 to £750 depending on scope.

Period Bedroom with Cornicing

A Georgian townhouse in Cirencester or Tetbury, full room including woodwork: £500 to £750. Ceiling height and original cornicing add time to every job.

Surface condition also drives the price — original lime plaster with uneven surfaces needs more preparation than smooth modern plasterboard.

Guest Room or Holiday Cottage Bedroom

Full scope with premium finish: £450 to £700. Holiday let owners across the district book us regularly between seasons for scheduled repaints.
